Bombardier Global 8000

Bombardier Global 8000: One of the fastest business jets

The Global 8000 is one of the world’s fastest aircraft, with the capability of achieving Mach 0.95. Being the evolved version of the Global 7500, the aircraft is able to travel long non-stop distances.

Bombardier and the Global 8000

The Bombardier Global 8000 is an aircraft capable of reaching Mach speed of 0.95, developed by Bombardier, an aircraft manufacturer that originated in Quebec, Canada. Initially the company started out with snowmobile productions in 1937, before expanding into the railway industry in 1970 and finally expanding into the aviation industry with the purchase of Canadair, a Canadian aircraft manufacturer of the Challenger wide-body business jets, in 1986.

Since obtaining ownership of Canadair, Bombardier has continued development of the Challenger series. The company celebrated the delivery of the Challenger 3500 to JM Family Enterprises on Feb. 17, 2025, marking the 1000th delivery of the Challenger 350 family.

The Global series

Later in 1993, Bombardier introduced plans to develop an all new ultra long range Global Express business jet, promising customers an aircraft with the ability to fly non-stop from Montreal to Tokyo. Bombardier fulfilled this promise in 1996 when the aircraft took its first flight and later entered service in 1999. What followed after was the production of the Global Express XRS (6000), Global 5000, Global 6500, Global 7500 and the Global 5500.

Bombardier Global 8000 is an evolution of the Global 7500, offering an increased range of 8000 NM (nautical miles) with a top speed of Mach 0.95. The aircraft went into service on December 2025 and according to Bombardier, the Global 8000 is the world’s fastest business jet and the fastest subsonic civilian aircraft since the Concorde.

In Jan. 23, 2026, the manufacturer announced that the Global 8000 has received the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) certification following the Canada Type certification in Nov. 5, 2025, and the United States (US) Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) certification in Dec. 19, 2025. Stephen McCullough, executive vice president of engineering, product development and Bombardier Defence stated that:

“Attaining EASA certification illustrates the hard work and dedication of Bombardier’s highly skilled employees and suppliers in collaboration with Transport Canada and EASA teams. This accomplishment further strengthens the momentum behind this groundbreaking business jet.”

Features of the Global 8000

Apart from its range of 8000 NM and an impressive speed of Mach 0.95, one of the most notable features as you step into the Global 8000 is the luxurious cabin of the aircraft. Offering the comfort of four spacious suites (club, conference, entertainment, and principle suites). Designed for comfort, the cabin has the option of featuring a full-sized bed, a shower, kitchen and dinning table.

The aircraft also features the lowest cabin altitude at 2,691 ft (0.82 kilometres), while travelling at 41,000 ft (12.5 kilometres). This means, even at its cruising speed of 41,000 ft, the aircraft’s cabin maintains an altitude of 2,691 ft. This is the lowest cabin altitude currently produced in any business jet. This reduction in cabin altitude means more oxygen availability, reduced fatigue, headaches and other discomfort encountered on long haul flights.

  • Increased flight range (8000 NM)
  • Spacious Cabin
  • Mach speed (0.95)
  • Smooth Flex wings (dampens turbulence)
