EcoCeres first shipment of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF)

EcoCeres: What its renewable fuels are made from

EcoCeres is a company focused on providing renewable fuels. The company provides sustainable aviation fuel (SAF), made from waste. EcoCeres is determined to reduce emissions by 2050. This article goes over some renewable fuels produced by EcoCeres.

About EcoCeres

With more than a decade of expertise in biomass utilization, EcoCeres is a dedicated renewable fuel producer focused on tackling climate change. The company is recognized globally for its innovative use of waste to create renewable fuels, chemicals, and materials. Backed by international investors Bain Capital and Kerogen Capital, EcoCeres is a certified decarbonization solution provider, producing industrial scale sustainable aviation fuel (SAF), hydrotreated vegetable oil (HVO), and renewable naphtha through its proprietary technologies.

EcoCeres is CORSIA Plus approved and operates a facility in Jiangsu Province, China. The Jiangsu facility is recognised as the world’s first International Sustainability and Carbon Certification (ISCC) certified facility in the SAF sector. According to EcoCeres, all of its sustainable aviation fuels are 100% derived from waste-based feedstocks, such as used cooking oil. The company’s SAF also meets the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) D7655 standard specification for aviation turbine fuel containing synthesized hydrocarbons.

Materials used

EcoCeres’ renewable fuels are made from recycled waste and residue feedstocks. Its hydrotreated vegetable oil (HVO) is produced from waste and residue materials, while its cellulosic ethanol is derived from inedible harvested crops. The company’s renewable naphtha is made from used cooking oil and agricultural residues.

In September 2025, EcoCeres partnered with Xiamen Airlines to process used cooking oil collected from trusted partners. The collected oil was processed and converted into high-quality sustainable aviation fuel. This initiative demonstrates the company’s commitment to reducing emissions by 2050.
